National Limerick Day

The twelfth of May is National Limerick Day and the annual celebration of Edward Lear’s birthday.

Lear was an English artist, author, illustrator, musician and poet who is especially known for his funny limericks, a form of literature which he helped pioneer in the late 19th century.

A limerick is a short, five line, humorous poem that rhymes.
